G20 સમિટમાં બાંગ્લાદેશને ‘ગેસ્ટ’ તરીકે વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીના આમંત્રણની વિશ્વભરમાં પ્રશંસા થઈ રહી છે. બાંગ્લાદેશમાં પણ તેમના આ પગલાની પ્રશંસા થઈ રહી છે. આ વર્ષે G20નું પ્રમુખપદ ભારત પાસે હતું. ભારતે વિશ્વ નેતાઓની આ બેઠકનો ન માત્ર એજન્ડા નક્કી કર્યો હતો, પરંતુ બાંગ્લાદેશને મહેમાન દેશ તરીકે આમંત્રણ પણ આપ્યું હતું. બાંગ્લાદેશના વડાપ્રધાન શેખ હસીનાએ પણ G20 બેઠકમાં હાજરી આપી હતી અને આ સિવાય તેમણે ભારત સાથે દ્વિપક્ષીય વાતચીત પણ કરી હતી.
બાંગ્લાદેશને G20 સમિટમાં આમંત્રણ આપવાના ત્યાં પણ વખાણ થઈ રહ્યા છે. મીડિયાથી લઈને સામાન્ય લોકોનું કહેવું છે કે આનાથી બંને દેશો વચ્ચેના સંબંધોને મજબૂત કરવામાં નવી ઉર્જા ભરી છે. બાંગ્લાદેશના વિદેશ મંત્રી અબ્દુલ મોમિને પણ ભારતના આમંત્રણની પ્રશંસા કરી છે. તેમણે કહ્યું, “અમને ખૂબ ગર્વ છે અને વડાપ્રધાન શેખ હસીનાએ પણ કહ્યું છે કે ભારતે તેમને અતિથિ દેશ તરીકે આમંત્રણ આપીને તેમનું સન્માન કર્યું છે. અને આ માટે અમે ભારતના આભારી છીએ.

તેમણે G20 દિલ્હી ઘોષણા માટે વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીને શ્રેય આપ્યો. તેમણે કહ્યું, “દિલ્હી ઘોષણા માટે સમજૂતી થઈ હતી અને તે માત્ર વડાપ્રધાન નરેન્દ્ર મોદીના વ્યક્તિત્વને કારણે જ શક્ય બન્યું હતું કે તમામ દેશો એક ઘોષણા પર સંમત થયા હતા. નહિંતર, તે પહેલાં G20 માં કોઈ ઘોષણા થશે કે નહીં તે અંગે ઘણી શંકા હતી.

G20 સમિટ દરમિયાન યુએસ પ્રમુખ જો બાઈડને બાંગ્લાદેશના વડાપ્રધાન શેખ હસીના અને તેમની પુત્રી સાથે સેલ્ફી લીધી હતી. આના કારણે સોશિયલ મીડિયા પર ભારે ચકચાર મચી ગઈ હતી. ઘણા લોકોએ યુએસ-બાંગ્લાદેશ સંબંધોને મજબૂત કરવા માટે ભારતની પ્રશંસા પણ કરી હતી. બાંગ્લાદેશના એક પત્રકારે આ બેઠકનું મહત્વ એ રીતે વર્ણવ્યું હતું કે વડાપ્રધાન શેખ હસીના અનેક વખત અમેરિકાની મુલાકાત લેવા છતાં રાષ્ટ્રપતિ જો બાઈડન મળી શક્યા નથી.
